I see us as more on a ridgeline with cliffs on each side and we don't know how big the flat area on top of the ridge is. It's much easier to get out of an impending ice age than the opposite. We could just vent natural gas into the atmosphere or some other kind of geo-engineering. Getting the stuff out of the atmosphere is much harder. Basically the idea of entropy.
