Sometimes the fund managers suddenly disappear; other times the money slowly disappears.

That's why you have to buy a hedge fund through your brokerage firm. If a hedge fund accepts a $5000 investment, there is something seriously wrong. They have a limit on the number of partners they can have, and they can't make money with $5000 investors. Unless they steal the money, in which case it isn't a bad amount. <G>
