this is what i used for contractors.. first i decided i wanted certainteed asphalt shingles...
certainteed.com

next i determined what kind of shingle , then using the above search on certainteed pages found contractors within twenty miles of my home. I also reviewed various awards of certifications certain gave to contractors. i also checked out the contractors on better business bureau web site. one contractor did have a consumer complaint against him. he next lower bidder and i was thinking of going with him. Lived in the town i live in however with one complaint filed it told me something was wrong, although settled why did it ever get to bbb?
i also called a couple of customers, i personally went out and reviewed jobs being done. I came across the low bidder accidently. i was driving out of development and was impressed by the quality of work and timeliness of work. Plus the next day the owner was walking the roof with home owner and then at his own cost he sealed up some brick work on chimney for him by himself.

In my case i had ten contractors tell me the leaks coming down from chimney was around roof. this guy never came inside. and after he did the roof job i told him he put in a new base around chimney he said it didn't need it. i walked him into master room and showed him leaked coming down stone fireplace.. he said that is the stucco not the roof. the wind with rain goes right through the stucco. you need to water proof the stucco. He says i will be back tomorrow. Sure enough he comes backwith filler for cracks in stucco and says after that needs to dry for a day. i will be back tomorrow,, i figure last i saw of him.. next day he is back with a sprayer and half gallon of mixture. I figure something like dam basements.. he laughed said not this is warranty for ten to twenty years against leakage. so he goes up and sprays and comes down and says the stucco is just sucking it in. i best use the rest of can. He goes back up and sprays it again. I keep the can and call the supplier out in kansas city.. he says yes twenty years but never hear of spraying area twice. cost for a gallon $44. it's been 18 months never a leak.

tell your boy friend he may be right.. truck load of dynamite blew up this morning in mexico killing about 30 people. guess they will start to ship by rail car.?
