Homo politicus: brain function of liberals, conservatives differs by Marlowe Hood

It makes perfectly good sense to me......conservatives should do jobs like accounting where there is little change from day to day and leave the running of org. and the country to liberals. ;-)

So liberals think that when confronted with traffic problems on the way home, conservatives just don't know what to do.

Well, speaking for myself, I have several routes to go home and use whichever is best at a particular time, easily switching from one to another. And I am no liberal..

I think this study makes some big assumptions - namely about what is going on in liberal brains:

liberals showed "significantly greater conflict-related neural activity" when the hypothetical situation called for an unscheduled break in routine.

That could easily mean the liberals pounded on their steering wheels thinking "Taxes have to be higher so we can have more infrastructure. I hate those ******* Republicans." Or "Why don't we have more mass transit so all these other drivers would be off the road. Taxes aren't high enough, damn it. And I hate ******* Republicans." Or "I don't really wanta go home anyway, I'll just pull off the road and go to the gay bar/massage parlor/bar/buy some blow. Damn I hate Republicans and their ****** ******* family values."

That would explain the "conflict-related neural activity".

While conservatives remain committed to going home and have no conflicts about that. They wheel off the normal alternate route and contentedly listen to Medved or High Hewitt the rest of the way home.
