Chris, > Vote Hillary and the nineties will return.

Sorry, already drank that Kool-Aid once.

If history repeats itself, and Iraq is today's Vietnam, then the next Dem president will be the next Carter ...

Vote Hillary and the nineties will return.

More likely scenarios: Dems inherit the wreckage of Bush's foreign policy. Dems are gorwn-ups to Republican children, so they instinctually try to fix it. The fix is painful, and that pain is blamed on the Dems instead of Bush.

This is a replay of Carter. He inherited the wreckage of Nixon (inflation). Carter fixed it (by giving Volcker free reign), but the pain endured while America took its medicine was easily blamed on Carter.
