I live in a town home and you can guess how little countertop space I have. Still, my coffee maker, can opener and Food Saver all share space and I just work around them. You'll love the thing once you don't have to get it out to use. Go to Target or Wal Mart for the bags. Also, if you wash them carefully, they are reusable. I get lots of mileage out of mine but they keep getting smaller with use. Another thing I've found they're great for is when you only need half an onion, shrink the other half and it'll keep for a week or longer, without smelling up the fridge.
