"They have committed leadership that can adapt. They have safe haven for training. They have middle management for organization and training and preparation. The thing they need the most are operations personnel," retired Vice Adm. Michael McConnell, director of national intelligence, told a Senate hearing. "We watch them recruit. We watch them bring them to Pakistan, that border area between Pakistan and Afghanistan, ... to train them in things like liquid explosives and so on, so the intent is clear," he said. "They have not yet been successful infiltrating back in the United States." Targets include U.S. political, economic and infrastructure elements "with the goal of producing mass casualties, visually dramatic destruction and significant economic shocks," Mr. McConnell said. Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff said al Qaeda remains determined to carry out attacks against the United States "preferably in the homeland" or overseas. "I think they are looking both to develop operatives who they can launch from overseas; they're also, I think, hoping to radicalize those within this country," Mr. Chertoff said. "They've been less successful in the latter respect here than they have in Europe, but it is a growing issue." The two officials appeared before the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee with National Counterterrorism Center Director John Scott Redd, a retired vice admiral, and FBI Director Robert S. Mueller III. Mr. McConnell said al Qaeda has been successful in "linking" different groups in Algeria, Tunisia, Libya, Egypt, Lebanon and other areas into affiliates. Once splintering, the safe haven that al Qaeda found in the ungoverned border between Afghanistan and Pakistan have allowed the group to "adapt and morph," he said. "With sanctuary and committed leadership, they've rebuilt the middle tier," he said. "What they don't have are the vast numbers of recruits to carry out the acts they would like to perpetrate. So that's where we have our focus, is to try to cut off the head of the snake" — a reference to efforts to kill or capture al Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden and his deputy, Ayman al-Zawahri. Al Qaeda has regained a "significant level" of its capability since the September 11 attacks but is not as strong, he said. Mr. Redd said U.S. counterterrorism efforts are focused on "taking the fight to the enemy," a strategy that he said has been successful. "Thousands of terrorists have been taken off the field of battle, and dozens of plots have been disrupted." He warned that despite the successes, "we must anticipate that there will be setbacks along the way." Mr. Mueller said the FBI has a "tremendous concern" that al Qaeda will "insert" terrorists trained in Afghanistan and Pakistan into the United States. Loosely affiliated but less well-trained terrorist groups also are a worry, he said. "With those two groups, the biggest concern we have is those coming in from Europe who may have been trained and be inserted either by core al Qaeda or undertake attacks in the United States without the planning or financial backing of core al Qaeda," Mr. Mueller said. Mr. McConnell said that U.S. electronic eavesdropping on foreign terrorists helped German authorities thwart recent al Qaeda plans to bomb U.S. military facilities with a home-made explosive. New Bin Laden Video: 100% Forgery Introduces martyrdom of hijacker who is still alive, references to current events occur during video freeze Steve Watson Infowars.net Monday, Sept 10, 2007 The newly released Osama Bin Laden video is a an iron clad forgery, and not even a good one at that. All references to current events made by the figure said to be Bin Laden occur at a point in the video where the picture freezes and only audio is present. Bin Laden also presents a pre recorded martyrdom video of one of the alleged 9/11 hijackers, Waleed al Shehri, who was reported by the BBC as still alive and well in Saudi Arabia. Hits to Blogs such as this one have sky rocketed as they have been the first to point out the suspicious aspects of the video which has become public in full for the first time today: Osama Bin Laden's widely publicized video address to the American people has a peculiarity that casts serious doubt on its authenticity: the video freezes at about 1 minute and 58 seconds, and motion only resumes again at 12:30. The video then freezes again at 14:02 remains frozen until the end. All references to current events, such as the 62nd anniversary of the U.S. atomic bombing of Japan, and Sarkozy and Brown being the leaders of France and the UK, respectively, occur when the video is frozen! The words spoken when the video is in motion contain no references to contemporary events and could have been (and likely were) made before the U.S. invasion of Iraq. The audio track does appear to be in the voice of a single speaker. What I suspect was done is that an older, unreleased video was dubbed over for this release, with the video frozen when the audio track departed from that of the original video. Also of note is the fact that when Bin Laden begins to talk about the 19 hijackers the video becomes jerky as if some of it has been edited out or altered. Meanwhile ABC's The Blotter is reporting that a second tape from Osama bin Laden was recorded in the same location as the video released last week: People in the intelligence community who have seen the tape feel it is directly related to the 9/11 anniversary since the al Qaeda leader introduces the prerecorded martyrdom video of one of the 9/11 hijackers, Waleed al Shehri. Waleed al Shehri was one of the hijackers on American Airlines flight 11 that crashed into the North Tower of the World Trade Center. No, actually Waleed al Shehri was not one of the hijackers on flight 11, as reported by the BBC and other mainstream media outlets shortly after 9/11. The report which was quickly memory-holed in the aftermath of the attacks stated: Saudi Arabian pilot Waleed Al Shehri was one of five men that the FBI said had deliberately crashed American Airlines flight 11 into the World Trade Centre on 11 September. His photograph was released, and has since appeared in newspapers and on television around the world. Now he is protesting his innocence from Casablanca, Morocco. He told journalists there that he had nothing to do with the attacks on New York and Washington, and had been in Morocco when they happened. He has contacted both the Saudi and American authorities, according to Saudi press reports. US intelligence and mainstream media outlets have both had possession of the video for a number of days if not weeks now, it has only been leaked onto the internet today. Yet reports continue to be written stating: "For the first time in nearly three years, the new-look bin Laden will be unveiled on television screens across the world when he releases a televised statement to mark the sixth anniversary of the September 11 attacks." Osama Bin Laden does not control the US intelligence agencies or the mainstream media, there has been a conscious decision to delay the release of the video in order to give it maximum impact on the anniversary of 9/11. In this sense, even if you still choose to believe that the videos are authentic Al Qaeda productions in the face of all the evidence to the contrary, there is no denying that our own media at the behest of the government is using the tapes as propaganda. The failure on the part of any mainstream media source to question or even to mention at all the highly suspect freezing in the video at the exact points where Bin Laden speaks of current events is scandalous and betrays a total lack of willingness to properly investigate and report accurate information. To their credit some analysts have pointed out the wholly fake beard that "Osama" has apparently donned, while other apologists have attempted to pass it off as an "image change" for the terrorist leader, saying he has dyed his beard and hair in an attempt to appear younger and more stern, which some, including the intelligence agency linked SITE Institute, have laughably claimed is "common practice" amongst Muslim men. In reality it is wholly uncommon for Muslim men to dye their beards black. Previously released Bin Laden videos have been revealed to be old footage dating from five years ago, yet have still been passed off as new by the mainstream media. In our previous article, we outlined how almost every so-called "Al-Qaeda" tape has been released at the most politically opportune time for the Bush administration and the Neo-Cons. We also emphasized the conclusions of our previous investigation concerning IntelCenter, the so-called "middleman" behind the As-Sahab terrorist media arm of Al-Qaeda and the public release of the tapes. In reality, all the evidence points to IntelCenter itself directly releasing the tapes in its role as a front for the military-industrial complex. In addition, intelligence sources have made it clear that they see Adam Gadahn, aka Adam Pearlman, as the scriptwriter of the latest Osama Bin Laden video. The CIA would have us believe that Gadahn is "American Al Qaeda", the US citizen gone bad. However undertake a modicum of research into Gadahn and you will discover from mainstream news reports that he is a hardcore Jewish Zionist who once wrote stinging essays condemning Muslims as "bloodthirsty terrorists,". The propaganda can be no better emphasized than with a cursory analysis of stills of the new video. Who added the new backdrop depicting a plane flying into an 11 and a 9? It certainly was not present in the actual video nor in stills released last week. So exactly who is helping Bin Laden out with his public image this week? The continued perpetuation of this myth has reached the point of farce now. There can be no doubt anymore that these crudely edited and forged propaganda tapes that are being foisted upon the American people represent nothing more than a contrived Neo-Con hoax to reinforce the flagging official version of 9/11 and the legitimacy of the so-called war on terror.
