That is possible to know, and without any inside knowledge. The profit and loss statement lays it out clearly. If a product is yielding poorly, while prices are falling, the company will make far less profit, or lose a few hundred million. (compared to past results).

If Intel increases profits after transitioning to a new product (while reducing price per unit), then they are yielding at least better than before. For sure you would not be justified in drawing the opposite conclusion.
