Asleep. 3 hour time difference. The radio alarm clock went off at 7 AM Pacific on a news channel. Both towers had been hit. An obvious attack. I thought "We're at war." But with who? The thought of 'accident" didn't occur to me; plane navigation systems are too good for that and there are two pilots in that cabin.
At about 7:30 AM Pacific, the first tower collapsed. There were no real death counts at the time, but it was estimated maybe 30,000 people had died. Later the 2nd tower was hit and it was quite obviously an attack.
