I had just finished a long trial on September 10th that ended in a mistrial with only 1/2 hour of testimony and closing arguments to go. I was therefore still in bed in a blue funk of irritation.

I was watching TV, probably CNBC, when they started showing the footage. My husband was home and we both watched it unfold. Our initial reaction was that it was a terrorist attack.

This was probably the most surreal experience of my life.
To actually *watch* this happen as though it were a movie.

Speaking of vile things coming out of mouths, there was a woman in the local big chain store on 9/11 or the next day spewing out how we deserved the attack and had gotten what we had coming. She was beaming like she had just won the lottery or one of her kids had just been released from reform school and had already swiped a plasma tv out the back door of the store.

Other than wanting to puke and hope she drowned in it, the thought occurred to me that this was one miserable human being to feel that way. It gave me some comfort to know that most likely nothing good was in her future....small of me for sure, but at the time it allowed me to tolerate her.

Some in congress must have plenty of likewise miserable constituents that keep sending them back to D.C.
