Our illustrious state legislature passed a law that says we can't burn our yard debris, which in my area is a serious problem. The smoke bothers the people in Seattle and Olympia.

A pine forest accumulates energy from the sun at the rate of 300 gallons of gasoline per acre per year equivalent. If you don't deal with that regularly, you get a build up, which is what we are going to have because some people don't take care of their fuels.

My house is pretty secure. I've got roads on two sides and green lawns on the other two sides. I took care of my slash, except what developed since the big "chipper" day that they had to compensate for the lack of ability to burn.

Also, I can have recreational fires to roast hot dogs and such, which I plan to do as soon as the fire danger gets reasonable.
