I don't think Romney really cares about the national polls. He KNOWS that winning primaries is all that counts and he's clicking right along in Iowa and New Hampshire. If he wins both of those then it might give him enough impetus to win or come close in S. Carolina.

Of all the threads on SI for candidates, there isn't one that I've seen for Romney. He's like the "stealth" candidate, just concentrating on organization and winning primaries.

It may be too soon to see how Fred will actually do, maybe another month... he would naturally get a spike in popularity when he announced, it remains to be seen if that spike is still there a month later... because he announced later than the others, he had plenty of opportunity to study the others and to find out what is popular and what is not... this way, he can say everything that people want to hear... but, if he's not legitimate, then this popularity will eventually wear off... so, we'll see soon enough...
