It is sad. And the Dems don't understand that evidently. Surely there must be some people in the Dem party, beside Liberman, who are really just as angry as the rest of us, and who truly want what is best for America, NOT just what is right for their career.

When we saw the majority of Dems being a good deal less than civil to a man who is MUCH taller than most of them in Education, Talent, Intelligence, etc... Petraeus is the epitomy of calm.

I have to wonder what kind of training enabled him to stand visiting the Senate and the House......

>It occurred to me that I no longer expect liberals to argue from rational premises at all.<

Many years ago I read a Gore Vidal book (not my favorite author), "Julian" in which the roman emperor makes the journey from rational man, completely modern in every respect, to blithering idiot basing decisions on his reading of the entrails of cows. Evolution happens very slowly and it's hard to tell what traits are being selected for in advance. My point is that for most of human history emotion appears to trump rational thought. It may very well be that the Age of Reason is an anomaly, and I don't think the problem is limited to liberals.
