Two other possibilities Nadine excluded are a soft partition, and a strong diplomatic effort by a new administration with the surrounding areas who see the benefit of stability That's because it seems blatantly obvious to me that the strongest surrounding area, i.e. Iran, sees the benefits of instability much more clearly. Their actions have shown their choice. The only kind of diplomacy that is going to work with that regime is diplomacy backed by credible threats of force.
