Cheeky Kid, my last flight, in 1979, was quite dramatic. Prior to that, I had flown well and often, and thoroughly enjoyed it, back in the days when flying was still fun and pleasurable.

On that 1979 flight, we found ourselves in the midst of a raging thunder storm, replete with lightening. The plane seemed to be going every which way--up and down and quite unable to stay on a reasonably even keel against the outside weather conditions. I looked over at my seat mate--a much more seasoned airline traveler than I--and noticed his wild and wide eyes and his white knuckles as his hands gripped the arms of his seat. I vowed then and there that if I lived to touch terra firma that night, I would never again get on one of those contraptions.

Obviously, the plane came through it all and landed safely.

I have not flown since. - Holly
