"American Empire" is a non-sequitur because there is no such thing.

AS for "advocates appeasement", not particularly, although you obviously can't challenge the whole world, and you have to deal with some people you might not like. The same point holds for "touts dictators". We support some dictators to a certain extent, and deal with many others without in a peaceful fashion, but we have supported democracy with everything from words to armored divisions, and Iraq is an example of that, whether or not it was a wise policy decision. Its funny that the two countries you give as examples are democracies, one of which was set up after we removed a nasty dictator, the other of which we have supported against various dictatorships.
