If nothing else, the foreigners come to DC to visit their friends and family, who work for the embassies or the World Bank or the Organization of American States or seem to own all the retail/restaurant/etc. businesses around DC.

Will never forget the day I thought I saw a ghost walking down the street from my house. Was told to relax.....that ghost was just grandpa from the old country, in his native white robes, visiting his Saudi kids who rented the house down the street.

And then do I need to tell you about the neighbors I can barely talk to because of language differences, and the clients I've had whose native custom is to visit my house and bring me gifts for selling them a house?

The thought that people don't come to DC from overseas seems "foreign" to me. <<GG>>

Sure - but it isn't as big a tourist destination for foreigners as New York say, whereas a higher proportion of Americans would be interested to visit. I like Washington too.
