That is a perfect example of the wrong usage being so pervasive that it has become an accepted expression of complete lack of interest.

exactly...

talk about dumbing down....

and oh believe me...my grammatical usage is far from perfect...

especially in forums like this, where i believe 'conversational style' works best ...i use vernacular expressions and slang all the time...

heck, i don't even bother to capitalize! not because i don't know the rules of capitalization, i'm just in a hurry and don't care to wear out my shift key <vvbg>

but if i'm in college and i'm going to be turning in a paper, you damn well better believe i would be proofreading left and right and looking for errors in grammatical construction...

that is why i am so appalled at how badly grammatical usage has deteriorated (see my previous post about the college communications professor that couldn't<g>)

ps...

i like 'WAHLA!' only because it assumes the reader connects the dots and understands the 'shorthanded' expression meaning as you say, poke fun at oneself using french...unfortunately enough people reading would accept it as the french word
voilà just because they read it on the internet!
