Not to be argumentative, but Verizon voluntarily/prematurely entered into the Broadcom deal, which likely would have been unnecessary had they waited to hear from The Court of Federal Appeals, and/or implement the work around software. As such, there may have been no contractual duty to indemnify, flowing from the handset makers to Verizon. That doesn't mean that Qualcomm and/or the handset folks aren't paying some of the freight, for the sake of business relationships.
