Dell Delays Filing Fiscal 2nd-Quarter Results, Plans to File Restatements in November

NEW YORK (AP) -- Computer maker Dell Inc. said Thursday it will delay filing its financial results for its fiscal second quarter ended Aug. 3, due to the restating of previously issued financial statements.

In August, Dell announced it would restate financial statements for fiscal years 2003 through 2006 and all the periods within those years, as well as the first quarter of fiscal 2007. The restatements stem from a yearlong internal accounting investigation.

In a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Dell said it is delaying the filing of its latest quarterly results until it has filed the restated results, which it expects to do by the first week of November. Dell said it will file its quarterly reports for the first and second quarters of fiscal 2008 at that time or shortly thereafter.

Dell shares rose 13 cents to close at $26.89.
