Many years ago our neighborhood invited one of the neighbors who was on the Denver Police Department to give us some hints on self protection in and outside the house. Among his advice, and the advice his department gave, especially to women, was to carry a can of oven cleaner with you. This is better than pepper spray, is totally legal and will stop anyone with harmful intentions.
