Pictures of a silver-haired couple the FBI believes may be the accused Southie murderer and his longtime girlfriend Catherine Elizabeth Greig were taken April 10 in the Italian city of Taormina, on the island of Sicily. But, the FBI cautioned that interviews with Bulger associates, as well as a facial recognition analysis has proven inconclusive and they are seeking help from the public. The Massachusetts State Police, FBI and Italian authorities have analyzed the photo and have not been able to exclude the two people photographed in Italy as Bulger and Greig, the FBI said this morning. The facial recognition analysis also proved to be inconclusive, as did interviews with Bulger friends and associates, the FBI said. “Interviews of associates of Bulger and Greig did not resolve the question for law enforcement that these two individuals were ‘look-a-likes’ or in fact are Bulger and Greig,” according to an FBI statement. The blue of the ocean appears behind the couple shown in the photo the FBI released this morning. The man is wearing a dark-colored V-neck sweater with a button-down shirt underneath. The woman, who has chin-length hair, is wearing a blue sweater. They are both wearing sunglasses. Bulger, who turned 78 this month, is on the FBI’s Top 10 most wanted list. Bulger was indicted for 21 counts of RICO-Murder and has been on the lam since 1995. Article URL: bostonherald.com
