"I like to help people who need help but I like my motivation to be my decision, not their solicitation."

You are like my friend Josh. He has helped people for his own pleasure and not because he wants anything from them.

I am more straight line capitalist with a twist of noblese oblige. I believe that if my skill or luck imparts me with a disproportionate share of resources that it comes with an obligation to allow others to benefit from their own efforts. Giving a person a fish is a disservice most of the time. Teaching them to fish will provide for them for a lifetime. Giving them a job on a fishing boat will allow them to feed their family with dignity.

Those who have lost the feeling of worthlessness that getting something for nothing are unlikely to succeed without changing their attitudes.
