There is about a 40% chance that a tropical storm will form in the Western
Caribbean or Gulf of Mexico this week, said Jeff Masters, director of
meteorology for Weather Underground, in a blog update Monday.

Above-normal temperatures in the Midwest and Texas were also providing
support for natural gas futures Monday...
...an outage at an El Paso Corp. compressor station (EP) in Wyoming
provided a brief boost for natural gas futures Monday, although it was not the
main driver of the day's gains, traders said. The outage at the Cheyenne Plains
Compressor Station on Sunday completely cut off deliveries on the Wyoming
Interstate Company and Colorado Interstate Company gas pipelines.

BLOOMBERG: Nymex Natural Gas Rises on Speculation of Fourth Quarter Rally

Natural gas rose in New York to the highest in a month amid speculation hedge funds would increase purchases, driving up prices in the fourth quarter...
... The heat will hold ``into the start of next week,' Weather Derivatives forecaster David Salmon said in an e-mail. The typical high for this time of year is 73 degrees in Chicago, according to National Weather Service historical data.

New York will have cooling demand that is 59 percent above average. As cooling needs rise, more gas is needed to produce electricity from power plants.

REUTERS: Most U.S. spot natural gas prices got a
boost Monday from the return of weekday demand and slightly warmer weather
expected this week in key consuming regions in the Northeast and Midwest.

Physical Natural Gas Prices Up almost everywhere except at some Western hubs with some $0.01, $0.02, and $0.03 prints. Might be due to that compressor outage.
