Cost of oil will probably continue to rise.Fortunately there are grass roots technologies on horizon.
Storage of electrical energy, coupled with wind and solar being one alternative and electric vehicles coming to forefront.

Here an example how storage effects remote locations, powered by diesel generator.(3:30 -4:05)

Storage of off peak electrical energy for use at peak times on grid making inroads here.

Storage of electrical energy,for use at the right time, is the future.. just like putting gas in tank for future use is done now.
