re: Yes! If the government is pursuing a fiscally irresponsible, unsustainable course, the Fed should speak up in no uncertain terms and continue at the cost of their job. That's why the Fed is supposedly INDEPENDENT of the executive. Yeah but to remain independent they have to remain squeaky clean apolitical. Otherwise they will be accused of all sorts of mischief, including fixing elections by manipulating the economy. Frankly I was surprised that Greenspan was so political even after leaving office. I bet the current Feds are pissed.
