I can relate to movies like The Godfather and Goodfellas because of my younger days in New York and North Jersey. Believe it or not, to some people, crime IS a business and some of the bosses DID do their best to keep it respectable. Most of those "crimes" from the '50's & '60's, gambling and extortion for example, are now legal because it's the government and insurance companies are reaping the profits. Prostitution is only a crime in states where it is not legal. The government is allowing more drugs to come into this country so the Northern Alliance warlords can fund their armies than the Mafia EVER imported. I guess whether it's more practical to whack the competition or imprison them at the taxpayers expense is just a matter of personal opinion.JMO.
