Tim, as a matter of principle, I agree that zoning restrictions are a restriction of property rights, and I oppose them.

The problem comes when one person's exercise of of his rights infringes on someone else's rights. For example, if you have a 5-Star restaurant, and I build a tannery right next door. Or if you have a Christian school, and I want to start a porn shop and massage parlor across the street.

It's the old problem of freedom to swing a fist ending at another's nose.
