You are a funny man. The world isn't a schoolyard. If you have read Sun Tzu, then you should know that wars are a last resort. And when you do go to war, make sure you achieve your goals instead of getting into a sliding mission...

Fighting WWIII in 1951 would not have been defending America. It would have been stupid. The opportunity to take the USSR came during the final days of WWII when Patton wanted to go to Moscow. It likely would have been a debacle, but there was at least a chance to do it without killing a large fraction of the people in the Northern Hemisphere.
