Upping my few shares of insurer ORI as it falls.

Very good history of annual dividend increases. (3.3% div. yield now)

Apparently 1999 was a bad year for ORI, and the stock sold for a p/b of .76 average. '02 might not have been a good year either, because the stock sold at an average p/bk of 1.07. Every other year in the past ten, the stock has sold at a p/bk about 1.2-1.5. Now the p/bk is again under 1.0. (about .95 according to Yahoo).

I'll bet the company/stock will recover and again sell for 1.2x book within the next 18-24 months.

Also of note, book value has increased every year for at least the past ten.

I'll make my first add now to my shares of life/annuity insurer NWLIA.

At current p/bk of about .72, that's within acceptable buy range for me. Stock has traded below .72 p/bk on average in about 3 of last 10 years, equal or higher than .72 in 7 of past 10. Book value meanwhile has moved up steadily from $122/sh. at end of '97 to about $265/sh. now.
