For comparison, T-Mobile offers their WiFi service for an additional $10 a month for a single line or $20 a month for a family plan....both of which offer unlimited minutes over WiFi. However, they also allow you to use the service for free if the minutes come out of your normal monthly bucket of minutes.

If Sprint offered similar rate plans, they would see a huge takeup.

The femtocells actually use a broadband connection as their upstream communication link so it would make more sense for the customer to use WiFi than for a DO version.

I agree, in general, except that the majority of EVDO phones do not also have WiFi. I get work email pushed to my smartphone, and it sucks as much to miss emails than it does to miss incoming calls.

I would also expect a drop in churn as people no longer worry about home coverage.

Agreed with all your points. I will say that Sprint does seem to prefer to keep a lot of special pricing in reserve so when you call to cancel, they can offer you a special retention deal. I would expect that if a subscriber called to cancel, and gave inhome coverage as the reason, Sprint would offer their femtocell solution at a significant discount. To me, this has always seemed like a strategy specifically designed to engender ill-will and bad customer relations.
