I agree with that 100%. there used to be a slogan about the lottery in the US. You gotta be in it to win it. In the case of iraq "You gotta win it to get in it." Your view now is deterrence containment using all forms of military force unlike MQ who wants air power and in the end nukes. I agree with you with the proviso we need the Tuscans to at least supply the food and Sangiovese for the troops.
