My favorite is the tree planting carbon credit. Lets go through the business model.

Trees are cut down for lumber by forest product companies. Normally they would replant. Instead they have companies that agree to do the planting at a reduced cost. The company then charges people for carbon credits and pockets the extra profit. Where did people think they were planting the trees, in their front yards? I would have noticed, and I suspect most other people would also notice a tree planting crew in their front yard.
