Syria seems the weak point, esp. if someone can convince Bashar Assad that Iran is liable to order Hizbullah to do something stupid, for which Syria will pay the bill. Assad can be made to at least hedge his bets.

Unfortunately, Ig's prescription is "kick the can down the road". It all amounts to a truce. We started the fire in Iraq, might as well let it burn to its logical conclusion. Part of the reason we invaded Iraq was to position ourselves to take on Syria and Iran and end their pernicious influence on the region. Ig's solution is to solidify that influence.
