i picked up an iPod Touch and i am disappointed. the web surfing experience is not very good if you load multiple pages. since i typically have 30-40 tabs open on my Macbook i figured the Touch could handle 3 or 4. but once you start looking at one page, the other ones go away somehow. when you go to look at them you find they are blank and need to be reloaded. at the same time the page you just came from has gone blank and needs to be reloaded if you go back to it. aside from the slow loading times compared to a notebook, since this is not a ubiquitous access device, one of the obvious uses would be to load up a number of pages at some Wifi access point and then read them somewhere else. but since the Touch forgets all the pages and forces you to reload them every time (or nearly every time) you view them, it is useless for this purpose which even a 10-year-old laptop can handle.

i am going to return this poor product. this technology still needs a few years of development in my book.

It's hard to say how the Edge iPhone is going to play out in Europe where 3G is pretty much a given. I'm afraid there's going to be a perception hurdle to overcome, even if WiFi is widely available for free. I must say this is a bit disappointing.
