Nothing called for that, the market has rebounded nicely - it is telling us something bigger is on the off balance sheets of these firms.

They know it and we do not.


I suspect the big banks are is serious trouble. They met with Bernanke last week so I'm sure they told him. They now have cover for what are likely to be horrible results for the quarter even with lots of stuff marked at level three to "mark to myth".

LEH et al. can now say, "sure our results look horrible but Bernanke's rate cut makes the future bright as can be, so please don't sell our stock."
