Preview: it is more than a viewer, you can perform searches and you can perform simple changes to the document.

Also I've used it to "fill in" a form that did not have fields (you can create fill in boxes)
and save what I did for future reference.

Looks like the repaced it, and knowing Microsoft, the Windows Vista, renamed Windows Photo Gallery Viewer is probably worse (anyone with experience comment?).

I really like Windows Photo Gallery. Compared to it's XP predecessor, it allows you to tap and drag within a photo to move around (rather than necessitating on the scroll bars), and you can zoom (and center) to the mouse position using the scroll wheel (kinda like pinching a photo with the iPhone). The navigation actually works just like Google Maps does on a computer web browser. There's also a new fix photo menu, which the old XP viewer didn't have, allowing iphoto-like editting (auto-adjust, red-eye correction, cropping). Like iPhoto, the original image gets saved, untouched, in the background.
