Man, what a fog you live in. The only fog I have is trying to get info over to you without blowing your fuses. blood feud between the US and bin Laden/Islam didn't start with Iraq. It started with the first Gulf War and even before.. The first Gulf war was with Iraq. Staging for that war occurred in Saudi Arabia. That's considered Mecca by Muslims. Its the equivalent of amassing troops in Jerusalem to attack Jordan. They did not like it. Deal with it. ... Reagan sending the troops into Beirut .. Hey, why not bring in Ike too. He put troops into Beirut for awhile too. The point is that Reagan was sticking his nose in ME affairs all during his tenure. Nothing drives you guys crazier than having another country tell the US what to do but you all don't have a problem telling other countries what they should do and interfering in their affairs. ..during the 90s, when Clinton was working so hard to bring about a Palestinian accord, the terrorists left us alone for the most part.. The 1993 attack on the WTC, the USS Cole bombing, the Tanzanian and Kenyan embassy bombings, the failed Millenium bombing plot, the failed Bojinka plot to blow up US airliners over the Pacific, the attack on US peacekeeping forces in Somalia - all occurred during the Clinton administration. The 911/01 attack was planned then too. None of those events were as destructive as 9/11 which occurred on Bush's watch and had been planned ten years earlier under Bush I. It was during the 1990's that OBL issued two fatwas calling on Muslims to kill Americans anywhere they could find them. The second of these was issued immediately following a threat issued by Bill Clinton to go to war with Saddam. The facts don't bear out your claim that "the terrorists" left us alone for the most part" during the blessed Clinton administration. The facts bear out that the militaristic tendencies of the right get us into more wars than I care to think about. And now we are in the mother of all wars that is costing us a fortune in lives and dollars, and one where we can not win. Those are the facts. What irks my hide is you blaming the left for your mistakes.
