At least the troops now know for certain the Dems are on their side. If they want more rest, they should write those Republican Senators who voted against them.

Gen Petraeus & Secy Gates make those decisions, not members of congress. Congressional armchair generals kill more soldiers than the enemy when they stupidly try to micromanage a war.

i guess you don't understand..... the troops are patriots.... many of them joined the military to serve in Iraq... they are not drafted..... they have all asked the military to take them in.....

that said, americans should be doing everything they can to support the troops. rather than trying to put limits on how long they can serve in Iraq, why not pressure congress to expand the military so they wouldn't have to be in Iraq for extended repeated periods?

i still don't understand why you hate the United State so much, but you still haven't left!
