>>Yeah ... sounds about right. It was a fun gamble.

I buy lottery tickets, knowing what I am really buying is the chance to think about what I would do with the money if I won. -- But I am not so sure how much “fun” 15k worth of lottery tickets would be for me.

>>I do have to say that I was quite surprised by the summary judgement outcome.

Clearly. But I think you are in the minority on this one

>>Of all of the ways that I thought SCO might have lost things, I did not count on that one.

Not sure why, people were yelling the possibility from roof tops. Maybe you should give a little more weight to the people who disagree with you on this case.

>>Seems that the judge really didn't want this going to trial.

This is a strong accusation. You are saying the Judge made a ruling based on something other then the law. Do you think he is incompetent or has other motives for this.

>>I've now read two interesting articles about the rules of summary judgement, and he seems to have really stretched the boundaries of the rules.

I am sure I have read the same articles you have. I don't think they were coming from strong legal sources and I have not necessarily agreed with them.

I have not read the entire 200 page judgment, but my understanding of the ruling is “There is no interpretations of the APA that allows it to act as conveyance of the copyrights to SCO.

The articles you mention talk a lot about what individual witnesses said. But the back and forth of the CIO says one thing, but the BOD meeting minutes say another, was never relevant. Evan if everything SCO put out went undisputed the copyrights never transferred. (My own interpretation, I have no legal back ground)

>>It will be fun to watch these last issues get sorted out >>

Now we agree on what will be fun.
