<<in just over six years has virtually bankrupted the United States of America and put us in hock to the tune of nine trillion dollars>>

It's a Commentary, like an Op-Ed piece.

The actual budget deficits are nowhere near $1.5 trillion per year for 6 years, even compounding interest.

There may be off-budget amounts. But I can't believe $9 trillion in 6 years is accurate.

Maybe that's how McClatchy (MNI) got into the mess they're in.

Looks like the Saudis are getting disgusted enough with the Bush administration to act. Just the fear may set off a chain reaction causing hyperinflation. All this as Paulson telling Congress to lift the debt ceiling.

I wonder if there is anyone on the planet who still thinks Bush is doing a good job. The man is truly incompetent no matter how you approach his actions.

Fears of dollar collapse as Saudis take fright

His predominant reason for seeking office was undoing his father's wrongs. Makes a father proud!

The Bush/Wimp connection obviously bothered him. You have seen him trying to show "strength" in every public appearance and with every conceivable opportunity right up to attacking Iraq. He does this with his words and his body language.

He abused his position to take out Saddam by twisting the intel in trying to make the 9/11 connection. Saddam humiliated his father and the Bush name. Jr couldn't live with that.

The name and lack of any viable opponent got him in office. It absolutely was not his ability.

Bush is a mental mess. He has no leadership ability or skills needed for a position of such power and responsibilty. He and any candidates for positions of power should be required to pass a full battery of tests prior to even being considered

<<Bush:
He inherited a balanced budget and a manageable national debt, and in just over six years has virtually bankrupted the United States of America and put us in hock to the tune of nine trillion dollars — sum larger than that accumulated by all the 42 other Presidents we had in two.......>>

None of those other presidents had a bunch of foreign terrorists flying planes into major NYC buildings and the Pentagon, killing thousands of people on our own U.S. turf. I don't think Bush is necessarily the best we could have in that position, but he was put in a really bad position when foreigners started trying to destroy major items in the U.S. and blowing people up. You wouldn't talk that way if you lost someone in that terrible explosion.

Way back then, people were writing about how the U.S. government needed leaders who were willing to kill people in retaliation (i.e., Rumsfeld and Cheney).

I don't know if we need all these transportation security officers in airports and whether they will help prevent the next worst thing, or whether we need to keep killing our own folks in Iraq in order to bring "law and order" to that country, but some money had to be spent on protecting the U.S. I wish I could find a political candidate who would do things better, and that's what you should be doing, instead of beating a dead horse.

Is there still time to impeach him?
