thanks. that HTC is a sweet-looking device. it would be great if Apple would release something like that. apparently the upcoming 13" Macbook is supposed to be very light with a backlight LED display. but it's still going to be a honking 13 inches. something the size of a novel would sure be nice.

here is summary of new Mac subnotebook from TSC. if these specs (weight <2 lbs, screen size ~10") are satisfied i will be one of the first in line to buy one. my 13" Macbook weighs in at 5.2 lbs, so the new subnotebook could weigh less than a third that amount. as always with new Apple products, there are bound to be some problems, so get the 3yr warranty. it is the best in the industry.

Looking ahead, people inside the company and those close to Apple's plans say there will be a big announcement regarding a so-called subnotebook Mac. The ultra-thin device will have a 10 inch-to-12 inch screen, sleek rounded edges and weigh less than 2 pounds.

The subnotebook's introduction is planned for next quarter, and the product is expected to be available for the holiday sales season. In preparation for a big year-end sales push, Apple has told some employees to cancel vacation plans "between Thanksgiving and Christmas," says one source familiar with the memo.
