Looks like they (and Greenspan in his comments about "failure" and being "powerless" yesterday) are claiming that they just were overwhelmed, and are hoping that people will feel sorry for them. However, their past actions and rhetoric do not support this allegation. Their previous actions were the cause of the problems they faced and they did not act out of unselfishness or kindness. They have operated in support of others (in the banking and finance cartel) without conscience to expand their own wealth and power at the expense of the middle class and anyone else who got in the way.
