Reporters tried in every way to get him to comment. This is what they do plus attempting to get the answer they want.

GW Bush is truly tough. Imo, he is much tougher than his father---I always viewed his father as kind of a milk-toast President despite his achievements-----President, CIA, United Nations, RNC Chairman.

GB Sr. became President somewhat by default just as Clinton became President. Reagan Republicans acquiesced to having GW Sr. as Vice President-------that set him in line for being President after Reagan.

When Bush, Sr. became the nominee the second time there was a loss of energy in Bush, Sr. In walks-----Clinton.

In the current President GW Bush-----I do not see a similar loss of energy. Instead I sense a gain in his energy. He is dealing with what is before him with toughness that draws upon a reservoir of internal strength.

By the time the 2008 election comes, Bush will have dealt with many of the issues that his critics in Congress are pushing. He will have done so sucessfully diffusing his critics using him as a reason for their being elected.
