"Giving more honor and airtime to this dangerous nutcase might have very lasting harmful effects. Judging from what he says, and what the Government of Iran says in its official pronouncements, he might decide it's time to ignite the confrontation between Iran and the West that will herald the return of the Mahdi."

Can you give an example of what he could say in an open discussion at Columbia that might accomplish this task in a better way than he could militarily or diplomatically. I can't imagine it.

The last time Ahmedinijad spoke at the UN he came away saying that a miracle had occurred. He was surrounded by a green glow and nobody blinked for the entire half hour. Seriously, that's what he said.
Compare his speech to Bush's. When Bush speak people go to sleep or start fidgeting in their seats.
Giving more honor and airtime to this dangerous nutcase might have very lasting harmful effects. Ah what are you afraid of?
We can't know this beforehand. But when a man says the stuff Ahmedinijad says, you have to allow for the possibility he means it.
You mean your own interpretation.
But Bush shows no sign whatsoever of apocalyptic fervor. He has never once ended a speech praying for the Second Coming, or expected the imminence of the Rapture and the End of Days.
Luckily, someone write his speeches. Didn't Jesus talk to him and told to invade Iraq.
But Ahmedinijad routinely does the Shia "Twelver" equivalent. He prays for the return of the Mahdi. His government puts out statements where they expect the Return within two years. He says miracles surround him and his speeches.
You need to control that imagination of yours.
And yet our press either does not report it or tones it down as much as possible.
Nadine, people do not hear what you hear. You want a propaganda and I admire your loyalty to Israel, the US is not Israel.

Until we see Mahdi in the flesh, I give such proclamations no more weight than I give a televangelist who talks to Gaa’hheeesssussa.

Who says such a Mahdi would even like Amadenijad better than you or I? Mahdi would be too busy to nuke America anyway.

According to prophesy, if we see Mahdi walking around, his first words are likely to be something like, “Where’s my buddy Issa (Jesus, the Messiah of the Jews), cause we’ve got some praying to do, some people to see, and some world orgs to build... busy busy busy”.

He'll probably tell you to quit procrastinating, and wasting time on SI, so's you can hurry up and finish Soloman's temple.
