Not possible except for the very rich. It cost $500 million or more to run a decent presidential campaign. And a fair percentage of that to make your way through the primaries. If you see how much effort the candidates have to go through to raise money for a primary, doing even more for a campaign is impossible.


I was hoping that by eliminating the parties, you might eliminate some of the wasteful spending on campaigns. I don't think we need to be spending so much money on ridiculous commercials and the like.
