yes - there is a recognized Line of Control - for military purposes. The real border is to be worked out thru political and diplomatic means.

In the 1965 war, India controlled a chunk of the land to the west of the Indian border. It went back to Pakistan after the war.

In the 1971 war, India controlled East Pakistan 100%. It was given back and thats how the nation of Bangladesh was born. The document for the creation of Bangladesh was signed by Pakistani General Niazi and Indian General Aurora, as there was no nation of Bangladesh at that stage yet - the land was given to Pakistan, who then recognized it as Bangladesh, when Sheik Mujibur Rehman signed a doc with Pakistan & India at a later date.
