friend who goes to Thailand every winter for three months, and he loves it.

90%+ of the men who go there by themselves do so for pedophilia reasons.

There is something about BA that makes it easy to feel like at home. People are kind of "undepressed" and nice... food is excellent and inexpensive. My wife loved the shopping. RE prices in the last 2-3 years at least doubled, maybe more than doubled, but they were depressed for a while, so they are still reasonable. The inverse seasons are fun - it's nice to go there in the winter and enjoy summer for a few days. The first time I went there was actually in August - on the way to Chile - to ski.

I'm not familiar with the areas surrounding BA. One thing which is not very accessible over there, paradoxically, is the ocean. The brown water in the huge Rio Plata is unattractive. People drive a couple of hundred miles to get to clear water sea resorts. We spent a few days across the river, in Montevideo, which is a nice town... but BA is definitely more interesting.
