But Iran isn't acting contained. It's acting like it send in Hizbullah to kill Americans or Lebanese whenever it pleases and nobody will make it pay any price. It's spitting in the face of diplomatic efforts to prevent it from getting a bomb. What is Israel doing? Do you think that Israel is acting like it is contained?

Nadine,what iran is doing is perfectly normal for states in undecleared war.... And it is very rational ....have the iranians made any stupid steps ....as yet no!What they are doing will only be stupid in hindsight if they get bombed out of existance. In the bios of the three main leaders only one ...and not the most important one, is rabid anti israeli....The other two would appear to be moderate with regard to the continued existance of israel. In politics it serves a purpose to haver a rabid dog to make threats...that dog can always be put down when the time comes. Re end of days...i would hope the moderates in america would hold back this administrations more apocolyptic urges. What may be irrational or just selfish is the desire to smuther iran to further our interests in contolling the flow of oil. Iran is in the key position with regard to central asian oil.... Look at the topography of central asia....... The only easy routes for a pipeline are through Russia.....but we dont want the russians to controll the oil tap any more than they do already.. A pipeline through iran would bring the oil out in the persian gulf where there are already facilities to bring it to asian markets......And the asian markets are the important ones . But, then, the persian gulf would become the most important place on earth...and america would not controll it fully. The logic driving events is not religious...thats for public consumption. Look at the american bases surrounding iran....where they all put there to protect israel......I think not. Iran may have overestimated americas willingness to compromise on its controll of oil.
