I lived in New Mexico for about 8 years and the Rio Grande runs right through town. I went swimming in it once. It took some time to find a hole deep enough to sit down in so I could get my suit wet. I'm very familiar with arroyos.

The Rio Grande river runs through Las Cruces, N.M. I was SHOCKED how narrow it is. Looks like a Florida canal. haha. jdn
